Join us for Brain Injury Awareness Day - March 10, 2025
at the Ohio Statehouse
It is time for the General Assembly to address the shortage of services for individuals with brain injury in Ohio. 1.9 million adult Ohioans have experienced a traumatic brain injury in their lifetime. Current levels of state supported funding to provide community- based brain injury services is $550,000 or 5 cents per resident of Ohio. Looking to our neighboring states we are grossly underfunded. We are asking the General Assembly to invest in services and a coordinated system of care for the brain injury community. This funding is critical to help survivors navigate care, access services and reach a greater level of independence. Help us increase the services available and the network of support for the Ohio brain injury community.
We will be hosting virtual advocacy day training sessions:
Training 1: Advocacy Day: What to Expect and How to Prepare - February 14th, 2025 - 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
Mike Toman, Anthony Aquillo, and Ella Roxey from The Success Group will discuss what to expect at Brain Injury Awareness Day at the Statehouse.
Training 2: Story Telling Workshop - February 20th, 2025 - 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm
Dr. Becca Monteleone, Assistant Professor of Disability Studies at the University of Toledo, will host this workshop to help survivors and caregivers gain the skills and experience necessary for self-advocacy. Participants will learn how to tell their own stories with tools that will help them to share what is important to them.
